Ambleside House

Ambleside House in Luton, Bedfordshire is the first service in our children’s division, a large children’s home, containing 8 self contained living spaces designed for children and young people requiring 2:1 or 1:1 staffing ratios. This home can accommodate up to 10 children and young people aged 5-18 with a diagnosis of learning difficulties, with a specialism in Autistic Spectrum Disorders. The 2:1 staffed accommodations are solo placements. There are several other properties being developed across the country.

Colvend

Colvend is a children’s home within London Paramount Care, which is committed to providing the best possible therapeutic care and bespoke residential packages for young people and children. Colvend is able to provide residential care for up to 4 children and young people ages between 5 and 17 years old of either gender, with a Learning Difficulty (LD) diagnosis commonly alongside a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or waiting for a diagnosis of ASD.

Colvend has a diverse and experienced staff team; children and young people are placed in bespoke living environments with an emphasis on meeting their specific needs with either a 1:1 or 2:1 staffing ratio during the waking day and during the night.

Prior to a child or young person being placed at Colvend, a robust assessment process takes place with members of the senior management team and relevant professionals. The home will review emergency referrals on a case by case basis. There will be a 3-month placement review following on from arrival for all young people to ensure the placement is appropriate for them.

Environment

We like to have a good understanding of any child referred to us, and require up to date information including the EHCP, Local authority care plan and any pertinent documents including risk assessments if currently in a care placement. This allows us to decide if we can meet that child’s need.

Assessment & Placement

Assessment of young person to take place in several stages including a meeting with parents/social worker, then an assessment at one of our services including a full tour – if we feel we can meet a child’s need an offer of placement will be made. Once funding is agreed a transition programme can start for the child moving into our home.
